SmartSolo geological survey instrument is currently being used to complete a geological survey of urban subsurface space resources in Chengdu, China. This heavily populated downtown area presents many operational challenges, with numerous buildings and infrastructure on the ground and below surface. Shopping malls, railway and subway stations, underground parking, urban water retention, and many other city obstacles had an impact on the survey design. With creative solutions, and with a system able to overcome all the above ground, below ground, and across water difficulties, SmartSolo geological survey instrument was successfully deployed as planned traversing downtown. As the project continues, seismic acquisition has progressed through the city center, where tripod bases are proving to give excellent sensor coupling while keeping the equipment simple and portable.
